A Note on Irreversible 2-Conversion Sets in Subcubic Graphs
نویسندگان
چکیده
Irreversible k-conversion set is introduced in connection with the mathematical modeling of the spread of diseases or opinions. We show that the problem to find a minimum irreversible 2-conversion set can be solved in O(n2 log6 n) time for graphs with maximum degree at most 3 (subcubic graphs) by reducing it to the graphic matroid parity problem, where n is the number of vertices in a graph. This affirmatively settles an open question posed by Kynčl et al. (2014). key words: feedback vertex set, graphic matroid parity problem, irreversible threshold process, subcubic graphs

On packing chromatic number of subcubic outerplanar graphs
The question of whether subcubic graphs have finite packing chromatic number or not is still open although positive responses are known for some subclasses, including subcubic trees, base-3 Sierpiski graphs and hexagonal lattices. In this paper, we answer positively to the question for some subcubic outerplanar graphs. We provide asymptotic bounds depending on structural properties of the weak ...
متن کاملBipartite density of triangle-free subcubic graphs
A graph is subcubic if its maximum degree is at most 3. The bipartite density of a graph G is defined as b(G) = max{|E(B)|/|E(G)| : B is a bipartite subgraph of G}. It was conjectured by Bondy and Locke that if G is a triangle-free subcubic graph, then b(G) ≥ 45 and equality holds only if G is in a list of seven small graphs. The conjecture has been confirmed recently by Xu and Yu. This note gi...
متن کاملExponential Domination in Subcubic Graphs
As a natural variant of domination in graphs, Dankelmann et al. [Domination with exponential decay, Discrete Math. 309 (2009) 5877-5883] introduced exponential domination, where vertices are considered to have some dominating power that decreases exponentially with the distance, and the dominated vertices have to accumulate a sufficient amount of this power emanating from the dominating vertice...
متن کاملIrreversible k-threshold and majority conversion processes on complete multipartite graphs and graph products
In graph theoretical models of the spread of disease through populations, the spread of opinion through social networks, and the spread of faults through distributed computer networks, vertices are in two states, either black or white, and these states are dynamically updated at discrete time steps according to the rules of the particular conversion process used in the model. This paper conside...
متن کاملIrreversible 2-conversion set in graphs of bounded degree
An irreversible k-threshold process (also a k-neighbor bootstrap percolation) is a dynamic process on a graph where vertices change color from white to black if they have at least k black neighbors. An irreversible k-conversion set of a graph G is a subset S of vertices of G such that the irreversible k-threshold process starting with S black eventually changes all vertices of G to black. We sh...
